River Liffey – Dublin, Ireland

Dublin’s river Liffey runs through the city parting the city center to North and South. Liffey played a big part in Dublin’s development by providing the transportation from the ocean and other parts of Ireland to the city. During the archaeological excavations behind Wood Quay, on the banks of Liffey, revealed a trading settlement here around 841.

The photo is showing the end of river Liffey connecting into the Irish Sea in Dublin Bay. The Liffey starts in Wicklow mountains, and runs for about 75miles. I like to walk along the river Liffey crossing either O’Connell bridge or Ha’penny bridge. In the evening, you’ll see a beautiful sunset and its reflection on river. Famine memorial is located on Custom house quay, which is on the North bank of Liffey.
