Old Jameson’s Distillery is located on North of river Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. They produced Irish Whiskey from 1780 to 1971. Currently, they open for guided tours (fee). I recommend that you purchase tour tickets prior to the visit as the place can get very busy with visitors especially during the tourist season months. You can purchase tickets at Old Jameson’s Distillery ticket window or at Dublin Tourism Office on Suffork street off Grafton street.
During the tour, you learn how the whiskey is produced with some interesting stories about the place. At the beginning of the tour, they ask for some volunteers for the tasting at the end of the tour. If you enjoy Irish Whiskey, I suggest that you raise your hand right away! I volunteered, and received a certificate of tasting after the tour.
There’s a good size gift shop inside the building. Some Jameson’s whiskey can only be purchased here. Check with the store clerk, if you are interested in purchasing it.
Also, there’s a Chimney tower where you can go up to have a great view of Dublin’s city center area.
