The Principal Hotel is located on Fleet street, Dublin, which is in the Temple Bar area. A few minutes walk to many tourist attractions in Dublin’s city center such as Trinity college, Ha’penny bridge, O’Connell street and Grafton street.
The room rates are very reasonable especially for the area. The building was older, and the mattress wasn’t new, but the room was very clean when I stayed. The hotel staff is on duty 24 hours, and the security measure was taken with cameras, etc.
The best part (other than the location) of the stay was the breakfast at the cafeteria on the ground floor. The room looked like it could’ve been a ball room one time with high ceiling and very decorative window and wall treatments. The made-to-order Irish breakfast was good, too. As you can see in the photo, the sign outside says “Bewleys Oriental Cafe“, which is Dublin’s famous restaurant/cafe chain. That explains why the food was good.
